Our aim at the Sanford History Museum is to preserve and exhibit the rich history of our diverse community. We strive to ignite curiosity and encourage learning while fostering a sense of pride and appreciation for the unique blend of heritages in Sanford, Los Sauces, and the surrounding areas.
The Museum is located in the Sanford Town Hall building, which is an historic building. One of the first cabins in Sanford sits next to the main building and is a part of the Museum. The collection includes photographs, books, and artifacts relating to early Mormon and Hispanic settlement, as well as contemporary materials. The book collection includes community, family, and personal histories donated by people with ties to the town. Military uniforms and information about veterans are important features of the Museum, as well as Church history, agriculture, school and sports, music, and even a doll collection.
Pike's Stockade: The museum is located only minutes away from Pike's Stockade. The replica stockade is located at the south end of County Rd 24.
