The Museum, located on
the East side of the historic Fassett Building, incorporates
early modes of transportation used in the San Luis Valley from
the floor of the valley to the mining camps. |
The Monte Vista Historical
Society is temporarily relocating to 916
First Avenue in Monte Vista. Photos from Monte
Vista HS collections will be on display at the Transportation
Museum. They will be hosting the "100
Years of San Luis Valley Reservoirs"
in May until the middle of June. |
Looking for something different in a museum? Visit the Transportation
of the West Museum in Monte Vista located in the San Luis
Valley of southern Colorado.
The location is on Highway
160 at 916 First Avenue, with two entrances -- one on the
north side, another through the coffee shop of Collections West
at the corner of First and Adams.
Items on display include
those of the horse and buggy days, the 1880s-1900s railroad,
farming, sports, and numerous photographs.
Travel through
the years of change in transportation by viewing the many captioned
photographs provided by the Monte
Vista Historical Society .
The history of transportation
in the West form the 1880s through the 1930s comes alive through
these pictures.
The Monte Vista Urban Renewal Authority
