This
depot was built in 1882 and originally served as the section
foreman's house. It was used by section crews until the
mid-1960s.
The construction of the railroad reached Cumbres in
1880, building the line starting on the Antonito side.
Earlier structures built at Cumbres included the original depot,
a covered turntable, and housing for the section crews. A full time
cook was employed here to prepare meals for the workers.
